Contact Us
Reach out by phone, email, or WhatsApp to discuss your condition and needs. We're happy to answer preliminary questions and help you determine if orthotic treatment is appropriate for your situation. You can also book directly online using our convenient scheduling system.
Initial Assessment
Your first appointment includes a comprehensive biomechanical assessment lasting approximately 45 minutes. We'll discuss your medical history, symptoms, and goals, conduct a physical examination, and assess gait as needed. The assessment fee is £50, payable on the day.
Treatment Plan
Following your assessment, we'll explain our findings and recommend the most appropriate treatment options. We'll discuss what type of orthotic device would work best for your needs, expected outcomes, costs, and timelines. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions and make an informed decision about proceeding with treatment.
Device Fabrication
If you proceed with orthotic treatment, we'll take precise measurements using 3D scanning or casting techniques. Custom devices are manufactured to your exact specifications, typically ready within 2-3 weeks. Stock devices can often be fitted on the day or ordered for fitting within a few days.
Fitting and Follow-Up
At your fitting appointment, we'll ensure your device fits correctly and comfortably, make any necessary adjustments, and provide comprehensive instructions for use and care. Follow-up appointments are included with your device to address any issues and optimize your outcome. We remain available for ongoing support as needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required for private orthotic care at Bull Orthotics. You can self-refer directly by contacting us to book an appointment. However, if you have relevant medical reports or imaging results from your GP or consultant, these can be helpful to bring to your assessment.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring comfortable clothing that allows us to examine your lower limbs, the shoes you wear most frequently, any current orthotics or insoles you use, relevant medical reports or imaging if available, and a list of any medications you take. For children's appointments, please bring school shoes as well as trainers.
How long does an appointment take?
Initial assessments typically last 45 minutes. Fitting appointments are usually 30 minutes. Follow-up appointments for adjustments or reviews are generally 20-30 minutes. We allocate sufficient time to ensure thorough, unhurried care.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a private clinic and do not bill insurance directly. However, many private health insurance policies cover orthotic treatment. You'll receive detailed receipts for all payments which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We recommend checking your policy coverage before your appointment.
Is parking available?
Yes, free parking is available on site at Belfast Pilates & Physiotherapy on Holywood Road. The clinic is fully accessible with wheelchair access and ground floor treatment rooms.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand that circumstances change. Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer the time slot to another patient. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may incur a cancellation fee.
